Apple Vision Pro
I’ve been looking forward to this morning for a while.
As a front-end software engineer, I am especially interested in how the world of UI and UX will develop. My personal opinion is that AR will replace the current mobile paradigm one day. I admit my view is compromised and this opinion is more based on hope than a purely logically held prediction.
I missed the boat of being one of the devs who shaped Web 1.0 and mobile. If there is a new revolution in the way users communicate and consume information I desperately want to be part of it.
What I saw today both pleasantly delighted and disappointed me at the same time. So I thought I would write down my thoughts, and gather the pieces and look forward.
The Good
Apple has clearly done it’s homework to make this device useful from the get-go.
While other vendors like Meta struggled to create a new “Metaverse” and made it into a twisted mess of an unfulfilled dream, Apple completely sidestepped the whole issue and made a device that will be useful from day one. You can tell by how they kept the OS simple. None of the Horizon Home mess — it’s just a familiar wall of apps. Simple, effective.
