There are a bunch of articles from heavy hitting publications proclaiming how the Vision Pro is floundering.

This is absolute rubbish.

We have seen nothing definitive yet, both good and bad.

Let’s have a look at the facts.

  • Apple sold out the limited stock they had. We aren’t sure how many but one estimate has this at 180,000 units. This is $629 million worth of sales in one day in a completely new product category. They didn’t have a lot of stock available so from a sales point of view it could not have been any better than it was.
  • There are 150 Vision OS specific applications. This means that there are 150 apps made specifically for Vision OS. But the device will be compatible with iOS apps from day one. Big apps like Netflix, Spotify and Youtube are not making vision pro specific apps, yet and are encouraging users to use the browser. I do note here that the iphone originally did not support apps and Steve Jobs thought that the browser would be the killer app.
  • This was for sale only in the US. There are a lot of people all over the world that would have paid the ridiculous $3,499 to buy this. If Apple really thought the sales of this device would make or break this platform they would have launched this very differently.
